ChargePoint & FreeWire: Learn more about the charging stations we offer

We’re best known for our functional and stylish shade structures. But did you know we also distribute two of the most popular EV charging brands? ChargePoint and FreeWire are both known for their advanced technology and growing networks. We can help you add them to your facility.

Installing charging stations at your location can add revenue and provide a perk for customers and employees, especially with the growing number of electric car owners across the country.

For federal agencies, we can provide charging to follow Executive Order #14008, which calls for electrification on the federal fleet. We also can provide expert assistance to adhere to the Fast Act.

The FAST Act (Fixing American Surface Transportation Act) of December 4th, 2015 “authorizes the General Services Administration (GSA) and other Federal agencies to install, operate and maintain the plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) charging stations for privately owned PEVs in parking areas under the custody, control, or administrative jurisdiction of the federal agency and used by Federal employees and other authorized users, and requires the collection of fees to recover these costs.”
We hold a blanket purchase agreement from GSA Fleet, making us one of only two vendors with a BPA to sell electric vehicle supply equipment. We’ve sold charging stations and accessories to more than 100 federal agencies. We can help you decide which charging station is right for your organization.

Here’s what you need to know about our EV charging options:

They’re fast: Speedy charging is the future of electric cars. Both manufacturers offer ultrafast charging stations, with some models delivering up to 100 miles of charge in just 10 minutes. The chargers will dispense up to 150 kilowatts of power in the vehicle.

They’re efficient: With its integrated battery, the DC Boost Charger from FreeWire allows you to save on energy by load shifting and peak shaving. Meanwhile, ChargePoint was the first manufacturer to have its charging stations certified by ENERGY STAR. Both brands offer efficient charging stations at a variety of price points.

Here’s what sets them apart:

Size: ChargePoint boasts the most extensive network of charging stations in the entire country. That means many EV owners are already signed up – making them more likely to plug into your stations. ChargePoint also offers several types of charging stations, so you’re likely to find one that’s a good fit.

Flexibility: One of the big appeals with FreeWire is its quick installation process. FreeWire recently brought the first ultrafast charger to Alaska. Its Boost Charger connects to a low voltage utility service, and it can be installed almost anywhere. The Boost Charger also boasts a compact and attractive design.

Both ChargePoint and FreeWire have plenty to recommend, including rigorous testing to ensure safety.

Contact Apollo Sunguard to learn more about these brands. And don’t forget: Our shade structures are a perfect complement to any EV charging station. Electric cars take longer to charge in direct sunlight, and shaded charging stations may require less maintenance.
